Engineer Lead Software Engineer at Fundrise

Lead Software Engineer manages an API engineering team, sets technical direction, mentors engineers, and oversees core services for authentication, investing, and account management.

Lead Remote Posted about 2 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Fundrise is a financial technology company on a mission to build a better financial system for the individual. With more than 2 million users and over $3 billion in assets under management, we are the largest direct-to-investor alternative asset platform in the United States, making institutional-quality real estate, private credit, and venture capital investments accessible to anyone. Through the software we build, we are democratizing the private investment industry.

We continue to push into new territory: our Innovation Fund (VCX) recently listed on the NYSE as one of the first public venture capital funds, and our AI subsidiary, RealAI, is bringing institutional-grade real estate intelligence to everyday investors and professionals. Fundrise has been recognized by CNBC’s World’s Top Fintech Companies (2024, 2025) and the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for three consecutive years (2023-2025).

While this is a fully remote role, candidates in the Washington, D.C. metro area are strongly preferred. Proximity to our team and business partners helps support in-person collaboration when needed.

We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer to manage a team within our API Engineering group. This team owns the services at the core of Fundrise’s investor application: the APIs that drive authentication, investing, account management, and more, and it drives everything underneath our flagship investor web, iOS, and Android applications.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be measured on the output, quality, and growth of your team. This is a people-management role in which you’ll set technical direction, coach engineers, and help drive outputs through daily hands-on software engineering, making sound architectural calls, and solving the problems no one else can crack. Success in this role looks like a team that quickly and consistently turns product, operational, and compliance requirements into software to drive Fundrise forward.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers through effective weekly one-on-ones, deliberate delegation, and growth feedback
  • Own your team’s delivery, breaking down work, coordinating across teams, and shipping against ambitious but achievable timelines
  • Hold the team to a high quality bar of production code, conducting thorough code reviews and making merge and deployment decisions
  • Drive design and architecture for Fundrise services and contribute to a long-term team roadmap
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering stakeholders across the organization to quickly implement complex functionality
  • Champion application security as a critical part of the work in a regulated financial services environment
  • Own production monitoring and triage across our services and third-party integrations

Who You Are

Like our Lead Software Engineers, you spend much of your day writing code, and you measure success by what you can ship as a team rather than by your own output alone. Your technical choices are pragmatic and always in service of building what’s best for users. You hold yourself and your team to a high technical standard, and you think about solutions across multiple problem domains: performance, security, maintainability, architecture, and implementation detail. You can quickly evaluate a new technology, pattern, or language and adopt it when it genuinely serves the problem. You understand how to apply AI effectively to your own daily work and to raising your team’s output without treating it as an autopilot.

You form clear opinions and advocate for them, and once a direction is set you commit to it fully. You find real satisfaction in making an established, high-stakes platform a little better every day. You give direct feedback and expect the same in return, and accept responsibility for all outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep expertise in Java, Spring / Spring Boot, and Hibernate
  • 3+ years leading and managing engineers: running 1:1s, driving team performance through candid feedback, and owning your team’s delivery, quality, and growth
  • 4+ years building and maintaining production applications on AWS, including services like ECS, CDK, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB and WAF
  • A deep understanding of transactional database design and operations
  • A track record of improving existing systems in operationally complex environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining secure software, including a solid understanding of common threats and principles for writing secure code
  • Comfortable tackling problems without obvious answers, and can rapidly absorb new languages and frameworks in order to implement the best software solutions
  • Experience managing high performing engineering teams in
  • A passion for working backwards from the outcomes the business needs to the engineering decisions that will achieve them

Benefits at Fundrise

  • Remote-first work environment (must live in the United States)
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Fundrise contributing to both employee and dependent premiums
  • Flexible Spending Accounts for medical expenses, dependent care, and parking
  • 401(k) with 3% contributed by Fundrise, regardless of whether you are actively contributing yourself
  • Fully covered life insurance and short-term disability
  • Significant equity via our employee stock grant program
  • Gympass benefit including mental health resources
  • Flexible PTO
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid parental leave

$190,000 - $250,000 a year

  • Partner closely with product engineering squads (embedded model)
  • Own production reliability for high-SLA and complex customer environments
  • Design and implement automation to scale our reliability practices
  • Ensuring our customers meet our SLO targets
  • Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models
  • Proactively reduce SLO burn to prevent repeat incidents
  • Serving as a primary escalation point and on-call for relevant incidents
  • Lead customer-impacting incident response and post-incident reviews
  • Contribute to design docs and code reviews
  • Influence feature design to ensure production scalability and operability

As a company, we hire globally (remote-first) to ensure our on-call remains healthy and aligned to approximately 12 daylight hours per day. You will work closely with counterparts in other regions to provide balanced coverage and shared ownership.

We invest heavily in developer productivity. You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction. We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always paired with strong code review and quality standards. You’ll also have access to frontier models (e.g., GPT-Codex 5⁄3, Claude Opus 4.6, Gemini 3 Pro).

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Regular 1:1s to with your manager and colleagues
  • Reviewing and creating SLOs, proactively investigating ways in which we can further reduce budget burn for those SLOs, which can be self-directed or as the result of learnings from incidents, and may include improvements to monitoring, automation, increasing self-healing, auto-scaling, etc.

  • Designing and implementing solutions to ensure reliability and scalability of our environments can meet rapidly increasing demands
  • Develop fault-tolerant design patterns ensuring that we are considering reliability at all stages of the service lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with our Engineering Leaders to help define and influence product strategy, roadmaps and technical designs
  • Participate in PR review and collaborating with other engineers on their Design Docs
  • Teach others about Site Reliability Engineering and communicate best practices to be applied early in development of new features and functionality
  • Participate in Incident Response when applicable, including investigation through to resolution, PIR, and communication with customers via Bridge calls where necessary

Requirements:

  • 6+ years engineering experience, 3+ in SRE/CRE/production engineering. Strong preference for those with formal customer reliability engineering experience.
  • Strong Kubernetes experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet, etc.).
  • Experience operating multi-tenant systems in production
  • Strong experience designing and implementing SLOs
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, Java, etc)
  • Experience with Linux operating systems internals, and some knowledge of networking, cloud storage, and scaling.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with calmly and actively participating in blame-free Incident Response, following up on actions, and writing high quality PIRs (Post Incident Reviews, a.k.a. post-mortem documents)
  • Ability to reason about performance, scaling, and failure modes
  • Comfortable working within an engineering team where individuals are encouraged to have a strong sense of autonomy and self-direction.
  • Ability to partner deeply with product engineering teams
  • We highly value those who are intellectually curious, who default to transparency, possess a high bias towards action, and who are also kind (this is important!)

Lead a product marketing team while owning core platform messaging, positioning, and go-to-market alignment across product, sales, and marketing functions.

Lead Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Our Purpose

At SentinelOne, we are driven by a clear purpose: to give the advantage to those who secure our future. As AI reshapes how organizations build, operate, and innovate, the responsibility to protect them becomes more critical than ever. When you join SentinelOne, your work helps protect global enterprises, critical infrastructure, and the technologies shaping tomorrow. If you are motivated by meaningful challenges and want your impact to be real, measurable, and global, you will find purpose here.

About Us

SentinelOne is a company at the intersection of AI and security, pioneering a new operating model for cybersecurity. Our AI-native platform unifies protection across endpoint, cloud, identity, data, and AI systems to deliver autonomous detection and response with clarity and speed. By combining real-time analytics, intelligent automation, and a unified data foundation, we reduce noise, simplify complexity, and empower security teams to focus on what truly matters.

Our teams are builders, problem-solvers, and innovators committed to shaping the future of security. If you are excited to solve hard problems alongside talented, mission-driven people, we invite you to help us build a safer future for humanity.

What Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for people who are relentlessly curious and committed to continuous learning. AI is reshaping every function across our business, and we enable every team member, regardless of role or level, to build fluency in AI tools and concepts. Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes.

As an AVP, Product Marketing, you will be tasked with leading and developing a team of Product Marketing Managers, while owning the development and refinement of core product messaging.

This is a player-coach role: every leader at SentinelOne carries both a team and a direct execution mandate.

As coach, you will set the framework and strategic agenda for how SentinelOne’s platform and products are messaged, set the standard for all core messaging content, and manage a team of Product Marketing Managers, each a subject matter expert who owns a technology domain.

As a player, you will personally engage at the executive level with Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership to keep messaging and positioning tightly aligned with go-to-market execution and the product roadmap, and own the content pipeline and funnel that feeds campaigns as a direct input to demand generation.

What Will You Do?

Team & Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of product marketing managers, each responsible for a product domain, ensuring consistent quality and cadence across all areas of coverage
  • Set the strategic operating model for Core PMM: how messaging gets built, validated, and shipped, and how the team prioritizes across a growing product portfolio
  • Represent Core PMM in cross-functional planning with Product Management, Sales, Campaigns, and Solutions & GTM; you are the executive point of contact for “what does the product actually do and why does it matter”

Product Messaging & Positioning

  • Own the development and continuous refinement of core product messaging, value propositions, and differentiation across the platform
  • Ensure messaging is grounded in product truth, technically accurate, competitively sharp, and validated with Product and Sales before it ships
  • Translate the product and engineering roadmap into a forward-looking narrative that anticipates market shifts rather than reacts to them

Use Cases, Demos & Buyer Specifics

  • Direct the team’s development of buyer-specific use cases and demo narratives that map product capability to real customer problems, by persona and by vertical where relevant
  • Set the standard for demo quality and consistency across the team’s domains, ensuring demos reflect current product state and current competitive reality

Sales Enablement & Content Pipeline

  • Own the enablement content pipeline that arms our sales and field teams
  • Separately, own the funnel of PMM-sourced content into marketing campaigns, ensuring the content pipeline feeding demand gen is timely, technically sound, and aligned with messaging
  • Build and maintain tight feedback loops with Product, Sales, and Field teams to measure effectiveness and impact, and make adjustments to ensure continual improvement

Cross-Functional Influence

  • Collaborate with Product to influence product strategy and roadmap prioritization
  • Partner with Market Intelligence to incorporate competitive and win/loss signals directly into messaging and enablement
  • Partner with Tech Marketing and Solutions to ensure product truth flows cleanly into top-of-funnel content and into downstream go-to-market execution
  • Act as an escalation point when messaging, positioning, or enablement gaps surface in the field

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

  • 12+ years in product marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a people leadership role managing PMM managers or senior ICs
  • Deep fluency in the cybersecurity market and platform categories, with the credibility to go deep with both practitioners and executives
  • Track record of owning product messaging at scale, from individual product narratives to platform-level positioning that ties them together into a common customer outcome
  • Demonstrated ability to set team strategy and direction, and to personally jump into a messaging doc or demo script when the moment calls for it
  • Strong track record partnering with Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership to influence and align on joint outcomes
  • Experience managing a content pipeline that feeds directly into demand gen/campaigns, with an understanding of funnel mechanics
  • Executive presence, comfortable representing Product Marketing in leadership forums and driving alignment across Product, Sales, and Marketing stakeholders
  • Exceptional written communication, able to turn complex technical capability into a message a rep, an analyst, or a CISO will actually retain

Why SentinelOne?

AI is redefining how the world operates and rewriting the rules of security in real time, and SentinelOne was built for this moment. From day one, we architected an AI-native platform designed to operate at machine speed, not as an add-on to legacy systems but as the foundation itself. It combines pharma operating credibility across drug development, clinical operations, manufacturing and quality, and commercial functions with enough platform depth to turn that credibility into repeatable GTM motions, solution positioning, and field-ready plays. It is neither a pure industry-advisor role nor a pure platform-seller role.

The Director reports to the Global Head of Life Sciences GTM and works alongside a team that already carries deep pharma and MedTech technical credibility. This role’s job is to convert that credibility into scalable GTM motions, not to duplicate it.

How you’ll spend your time

Time allocation follows the Global Industries GTM operating model.

  • 60% customer-facing: executive engagement, EBC delivery, pipeline creation, and priority account progression. Within this, roughly 70% is pipeline creation and 30% is pipeline progression in priority accounts.

  • 20% industry strategy and product collaboration: partnering with account executives and GTM partners on account-level strategy and bringing market signal into product roadmap conversations.

  • 20% field enablement and business reporting: building field-ready plays and assets and tracking pipeline created and influenced against goals.

This role is most active as a door opener and trusted advisor through the point of technical win. In NowSell terms, that means primary ownership at account planning and discovery, active support through technical validation on strategic accounts with an established senior relationship and largely stepping back once the deal reaches commercial and close, where the account team leads and this role re-engages only as needed with the relationship contact.

Areas of responsibility

1. Executive presence and pipeline creation

Be a credible senior voice with pharma executives in Executive Business Center engagements, industry forums, and executive roundtables, connecting ServiceNow’s platform to what pharma leaders are accountable for: R&D velocity, regulatory readiness, manufacturing quality, and commercial execution. Extend into MedTech conversations on accounts that span both. Pipeline created and influenced through this work is measured on in-quarter NNACV.

2. Pipeline progression and deal support

Partner with account executives to progress pipeline: form relationships with key buying-center executives, sharpen the business case, and shorten deal cycles by bringing pharma industry expertise into account strategy, particularly on accounts with senior stakeholder complexity that call for an objective, practitioner-level voice.

3. Industry logic behind platform demonstrations

Ensure the business case and clinical or operational logic behind demos and proof-of-concept work is sound and lands with executives, by working with solution consultants across clinical trial operations, pharmacovigilance, manufacturing quality, and commercial CRM. Building and running demos is Solution Consultant territory; this role owns the credibility of the story behind them.

4. Product and partner input

Bring market signals, executive feedback, and deal-level patterns into ServiceNow’s product roadmap for pharma, particularly for net-new solutions with no off-the-shelf play yet. Support the pharma partner motion with strategic SIs and technology partners at the solution and co-sell level. Partner-aligned roles own program management, deal registration, and ISV certification.

5. Scalable plays and business reporting

Turn pharma market dynamics, win/loss patterns, and voice-of-customer signal into field-ready plays, positioning, and competitive tools that sellers can run without this role in the room. If a play still requires this Director to work, it isn’t finished. Track pipeline created and influenced against goals and use that analysis to direct effort where it moves the number.

Qualifications

Must have

  • 12+ years working at the intersection of life sciences and enterprise technology, with a track record of turning sector knowledge into commercial outcomes. Depth should weight toward pharma, with working familiarity in MedTech. This experience can come from direct employment inside a pharma or biotech company in a role touching enterprise technology, from time at a vendor or systems integrator serving the pharma or biotech market (Accenture, Deloitte, EY, or equivalent), or from a combination of both. What matters is the ability to connect a pharma operational problem to what an enterprise platform actually does at the workflow level, not which side of the table it was learned on.
  • Demonstrated executive presence: a track record of leading, not supporting, high-stakes conversations with senior pharma or biotech executives, and the credibility to own the narrative in an Executive Business Center or equivalent forum.
  • Commercial GTM experience: a track record of building pipeline, shaping account strategy, and driving measurable revenue outcomes in a GTM, sales overlay, or business development capacity. Quota-carrying experience is a plus, not a requirement. What is required is evidence of commercial impact, not narrative-only involvement.

Nice to have

  • Traditional strategy consulting experience (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent) serving the pharma or biotech sector. This adds credibility on top of the must-haves above; it does not substitute for them.
  • Established presence in the pharma or biotech sector through industry events, associations, or thought leadership. Track record of industry keynotes or similar public speaking engagements.
  • Experience shaping product roadmap or solution strategy with product teams, ideally in life sciences.
