BACKGROUND AND OPPORTUNITY

There are almost 75 million hourly workers in the United States, representing more than half of the entire workforce. Historically, managing hourly employees has been difficult due to high attrition (average of 60%) and high replacement costs (average of $3,200 per employee in retail). The ongoing labor shortage and competition from the gig economy, make it more difficult to attract and retain hourly employees. The top reasons hourly employees leave their jobs are a lack of schedule empowerment, poor communication with employers, and an inability to get paid early. Gen Z and the millennial workforce demand gig-like flexibility, modern technology, and compelling work options. Legion’s mission is to turn hourly jobs into good jobs, serving the hourly workers who make up the majority of the US workforce. We believe in empowering employees and helping employers be efficient and innovative by enabling intelligent automation powered by Legion’s Workforce Management platform to optimize labor efficiency and enhance the employee experience simultaneously.  Legion WFM was built for the cloud with AI at the core and designed to handle the complexity of modern businesses and meet the needs of today’s hourly employees.  Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals from all backgrounds and experiences, globally distributed across all time zones.

Legal Financial Services Compliance Manager at Utility Warehouse

Manages financial services compliance for insurance and consumer credit products, advising stakeholders on regulatory requirements and financial crime risks.

What this role involves

Company Description

Hi! We’re UW. We’re on a mission to take the headache out of utilities by providing them all in one place. One bill for energy, broadband, mobile and insurance and a whole lot of savings!

We’re aiming to double in size as we help more people to stop wasting time and money. Big ambitions, to be delivered by people like you.

Got your attention? Read on…

We put people first. It’s all about you..

We’re looking for a Financial Services Compliance Manager to join us as we continue to grow and develop our suite of products in insurance, payments and consumer credit.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be a natural relationship builder who acts as a trusted partner to our first line of defence, keeping a clear head and offering perspective when tricky compliance incidents crop up. You excel at communication clarity—translating complex regulatory jargon, FCA expectations, and financial crime rules into straightforward, actionable advice for stakeholders at all levels. Digging into the nitty-gritty of scripts, financial promotions, or process design is second nature to you, thanks to your sharp eye for detail. You also bring agility and pragmatism to the table, solving problems with a creative, proportionate mind to find the most appropriate business solutions for our Insurance, Consumer Credit, and Cashback Card products rather than just applying standard methods.

Key Experience Required

  • Second-line defence experience: You have solid experience in a second line of defence compliance role in financial services
  • Insurance product expertise: Essential experience working with general insurance products. Exposure to other consumer financial services products (like Consumer Credit or our Cashback Card) is highly desirable.
  • Regulatory & financial crime knowledge: Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance is essential. If you bring financial crime knowledge and experience, that is a massive plus!
  • Risk & change management: A proven track record of spotting compliance-related risks and opportunities, and finding proportionate responses in a changing environment.

We work together. Your team and the people you will work with…

This role reports to the Senior Financial Services Compliance Manager and will be joining a wider team of Legal & Compliance professionals. You’ll interact with Senior leaders and colleagues across this business to deliver an effective second line of defence advisory service for our FS products.

We deliver progress. What you’ll do and how you will make an impact.

This is a newly created role joining at a critical phase of development in the business. These are the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Second line of defence advice
    • Being a trusted ‘second line of defence’ advisor to provide oversight and advice to ensure our policies, procedures and processes help us achieve our business objectives while appropriately reflecting the FCA’s expectations, Financial Crime legislation and other relevant regulations.
    • Routine compliance support for matters such as process design and scripts, financial promotions, specific complaint or case enquiries, conduct issues and more.
    • Supporting, overseeing and advising on incidents as needed, to ensure corrective and remediation actions are appropriate and that controls are improved to reflect lessons learned and root causes.
  • Compliance monitoring and reporting
    • Supporting assessments of the effectiveness of our internal controls, overseeing any work to mitigate gaps or issues.
    • Preparing and submitting regulatory reports to the FCA and other third parties or regulatory bodies as appropriate, including Suspicious Activity Reports.
    • Supporting upward management or committee reporting on relevant compliance matters, including breach or incident reporting.
  • Cross functional collaboration
    • Acting as a business partner to the first line of defence to support and educate on compliance matters and as a point of contact for internal queries related to regulatory compliance and matters set out below.
    • Collaborating with Legal & Compliance colleagues to coordinate perspectives and manage conflicting positions, such as where regulators take different approaches.
    • Developing and delivering training to support awareness and understanding. Promoting a culture that supports strong compliance and good customer outcomes.
  • Change management
    • Supporting change, whether driven by internal needs such as business development, or external needs such as regulatory change.
    • Scanning the horizon for regulatory news and developments to support your own development and sharing analysis to support business awareness, improvement and preparedness.

So why pick UW?

We’ve got big ambitions so there’s going to be plenty of challenges. There are also a lot of benefits:

  • An industry benchmarked salary. We’ll share it during your first

conversation.

  • Performance bonus: An annual discretionary bonus ranging from 15-40%.
  • Work-life balance: Flexible hybrid working with 1-2 days a week in the office in central London.
  • Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays (increasing with tenure), with the option to trade up to five days each year.
  • UW discounts: Save on our services and get a free Cashback Card.
  • Future planning: Matched-contribution pension scheme and life assurance (up to 4x salary).
  • Family first: Policies designed to help you and your family thrive.
  • Flexible benefits: Options to access private health insurance, dental insurance, or gym membership.
  • Inclusion: Join belonging groups that help shape our culture.
  • Events: Company-wide celebrations including the ‘Great Big Get Together’ and our ‘Good Hearted Go-Getter Awards’.

Apply here!

You’ve got this far… Hit apply - we can’t wait to hear from you! Worried you don’t hit all the criteria? We welcome applications from diverse and varied backgrounds so get your application in and let’s chat!

Claire Fennell will be your point of contact throughout the recruitment process.

Job Description

Additional Information

Not sure you meet all the requirements? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of other underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs if they think they may not meet every qualification, when in fact they often do.

We provide equal opportunities, a diverse and inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone. You are welcome to apply no matter your age, disability, gender, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity status, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. Please don’t be afraid to ask about what we can do to support your needs. All requests will be carefully and fairly considered.

Please note, if you are successful and offered a role at UW, you will be subject to a background check. Where checks are unsatisfactory or incomplete and/or a failure to reveal information relating to convictions that you are required to identify as part of the background checks, could lead to withdrawal of an offer of employment.

Legal Commercial Attorney at Panopto

Commercial attorney who reviews, negotiates, and manages customer and vendor contracts while optimizing legal workflows and supporting sales deal velocity.

Mid Posted 9 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Company Overview:

At Panopto, we are the most customer-centric learning technology company in the world. As the leader in visual and audio-based learning, we empower organizations to share knowledge effortlessly in a capture and post-capture world. We don’t just build software; we obsess over our users’ goals to deliver solutions that truly matter. Our mission is simple: to attract the brightest talent, people like you, to Elevate the Craft and do the most impactful work of your career.

As a Commercial Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating Panopto’s business growth by designing, reviewing, and scaling our global contract infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will serve as a strategic business partner to our Sales, Finance, and Information Security teams. You will take ownership of the contract lifecycle—ranging from rapid-turnaround NDAs to commercial vendor and customer agreements—ensuring we protect company interests while maintaining the operational velocity needed to close transactions quickly.

How You’ll Contribute: In this role, you will have the opportunity to…

  • Accelerate Deal Velocity: Review, redline, and negotiate customer, vendor, and partner agreements, balancing robust risk management with a pragmatic approach to closing business.

  • Optimize Legal Infrastructure: Manage the legal department’s intake queue within Salesforce, establishing clear triage patterns and conducting initial assessments to resolve inquiries efficiently.

  • Drive Process Automation: Utilize and continuously improve contract management and automation software to streamline initial reviews and eliminate manual administrative friction.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Align with Sales, Finance, Executive leadership, and InfoSec to ensure all necessary compliance approvals are smoothly achieved during the transactional lifecycle.

Within 6 Months — Integration and Audit

  • Conduct an audit of the existing legal case queue and contract data to identify the primary bottlenecks slowing down sales cycles.

  • Achieve full autonomy over the intake, initial triage, and standard redlining of standard customer NDAs and vendor agreements.

Within 1 Year — First Measurable Impact on Contract Cycle Times

  • Reduce the contract-to-close latency for standard agreements by implementing structured playbooks and workflow improvements within the contract management system.

  • Successfully transition routine contract reviews away from executive leadership, allowing the broader team to focus on highly strategic initiatives.

Your Legacy — Full Ownership of Commercial Operations

  • Build out a highly automated, self-sustaining commercial contract framework that scales effortlessly alongside Panopto’s global expansion.

Values in Action

  • Customer First, Always: You proactively surface friction points in the customer experience before they are escalated—and propose solutions, not just reports.

  • Thrive Together: You share work-in-progress for early feedback, knowing that challenge improves the outcome. You separate critiques of ideas from critiques of people.

  • Elevate the Craft: You hold the bar high on your own work and invest in developing those around you. You treat every project as an opportunity to learn something new.

  • Act with Ownership: You define success by outcomes, not activity. You flag problems early and bring a proposed path forward, not just the problem.

  • Clarity Over Complexity: You default to the simpler solution. Your written communication—internal or external—is direct, specific, and free of filler.

How We Thrive

“You’ll join a team where we challenge ideas, not people, knowing our success depends on our collective wisdom. We believe in simple elegance and holding ourselves accountable to outcomes, not just activity”. The legal team thrives by providing clear, objective, and solution-oriented paths forward rather than just pointing out legal risks. We operate via collaborative review sessions, helping each other navigate complex negotiations without silos.

The Foundation for Success

  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating commercial legal agreements (such as customer software agreements, vendor contracts, and partner frameworks) within a corporate ecosystem.

  • System Fluency: Experience working within Salesforce and specialized contract management lifecycle (CLM) platforms to track workflows and drive operational clarity.

  • Pragmatic Problem Solving: A sharp focus on details combined with the ability to think quickly, execute deliberate project follow-through, and exercise exceptional commercial judgment.

  • Diplomatic Communication: Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build solid, collaborative relationships across sales, finance, and external client teams.

What Sets You Apart

  • A proven history of leveraging legal automation tools to materially decrease standard deal cycle times.

  • A formal legal education background (such as a J.D., LL.M., or a Bachelor’s degree paired with robust corporate paralegal credentials) that balances theoretical correctness with practical business execution.

What Success Looks Like

By day 90, you will have assumed complete operational management of the Salesforce legal case queue and completed a diagnostic assessment of contract process friction points, creating a direct path to faster deal execution.

As a Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating Panopto’s business growth by designing, reviewing, and scaling our global contract infrastructure.
