Senior software engineer owns full-stack features across iOS/Android apps, makes architectural decisions, and ships products to users while mentoring the team.
Are you ready to step onto the playing field of a fast growing US tech startup thatâs changing the game in the world of sports?
GoodRec is looking for an Engineering Lead to own real product end to end and ship it to players in 80+ cities. Youâll be the person who takes the hardest problems, decides how to solve them, and gets them live, working directly with our founders on what to build and why. This is a builder role first. You own features from the first line of code to the moment players are using them, and you do it with real ownership rather than a queue of tickets.
About us:
GoodRec started 4 years ago with a small community in Brooklyn, New York. Since then, we have grown into the largest pickup sports app in North America. With the GoodRec app, finding a pickup game, league, or tournament near you is fast and easy. All you have to do is tap the app, join a game, and show up ready to play!
Check out the GoodRec app here: www.goodrec.com
What youâll do
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Own features end to end across our iOS and Android app, from the first line of code to the moment players in 80+ cities are using them.
Take the hardest technical problems and make the call on how to solve them. You set the approach, you make the tradeoffs, and youâre accountable for what ships.
Build the internal tools and automations that keep GoodRec running, scripting away the manual work and wiring our systems together so the whole team moves faster.
Own the security and reliability of what you build, not as an afterthought but as part of shipping it right.
Raise the technical bar around you. Review code, share what you know, and help the engineers next to you do their best work, no management required.
Work directly with our founders on what to build and why, with real influence over the product and not just the implementation.
The ideal profile
Youâve shipped real products that real people used, owning them end to end, not just closing tickets someone else scoped.
Senior enough to move without waiting for permission. You frame the problem, pick the approach, ship it, and can name the tradeoffs you made and why.
Probably built your own thing at some point, a startup, a side project with users, a tool people actually rely on. Whether it flew or folded, that instinct to build is exactly what we want.
Bias to automation: you script away your own annoyances and build the tools nobody asked for.
Comfortable being the person others bring the hard problems to, and generous about sharing what you know.
Passion for sports, communities, and building things from the ground up.
Startup mindset: resourceful, adaptable, and eager to take ownership.
Some key requirements
Minimum of 5+ years building and shipping software, ideally within a fast paced or startup environment.
Strong mobile experience (React Native, Flutter, or native iOS and Android) and comfort reaching across the stack when a feature needs it.
A track record of owning projects end to end, from the architecture decision through to production.
Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent real world building experience.
Native or near native English level: fluent verbal and written communication.
Full time availability.
Some perks youâll enjoy
Competitive salary with startup growth opportunities
Work remotely from your city
Join an international team spread across the US, Canada, and Colombia
Paid time off + US holidays
Monthly in person team meetups to connect with the full GoodRec crew
đ This is your chance to be part of an international team that is shaping the future of sports worldwide!
Designs and maintains automated testing frameworks using Playwright to ensure software quality and reliability.
Develops full-stack software solutions for construction industry platforms, building automated systems and feedback mechanisms.
Leads flight controls and guidance/navigation/control (GNC) systems engineering for unmanned aircraft platforms.
Designs and builds production-grade features across backend and frontend systems with end-to-end ownership.
Leads the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems using PHP.
