Engineer Lead Software Engineer at Fundrise

Lead Software Engineer manages an API engineering team, sets technical direction, mentors engineers, and oversees core services for authentication, investing, and account management.

Lead Remote Posted about 2 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Fundrise is a financial technology company on a mission to build a better financial system for the individual. With more than 2 million users and over $3 billion in assets under management, we are the largest direct-to-investor alternative asset platform in the United States, making institutional-quality real estate, private credit, and venture capital investments accessible to anyone. Through the software we build, we are democratizing the private investment industry.

We continue to push into new territory: our Innovation Fund (VCX) recently listed on the NYSE as one of the first public venture capital funds, and our AI subsidiary, RealAI, is bringing institutional-grade real estate intelligence to everyday investors and professionals. Fundrise has been recognized by CNBC’s World’s Top Fintech Companies (2024, 2025) and the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for three consecutive years (2023-2025).

While this is a fully remote role, candidates in the Washington, D.C. metro area are strongly preferred. Proximity to our team and business partners helps support in-person collaboration when needed.

We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer to manage a team within our API Engineering group. This team owns the services at the core of Fundrise’s investor application: the APIs that drive authentication, investing, account management, and more, and it drives everything underneath our flagship investor web, iOS, and Android applications.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be measured on the output, quality, and growth of your team. This is a people-management role in which you’ll set technical direction, coach engineers, and help drive outputs through daily hands-on software engineering, making sound architectural calls, and solving the problems no one else can crack. Success in this role looks like a team that quickly and consistently turns product, operational, and compliance requirements into software to drive Fundrise forward.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers through effective weekly one-on-ones, deliberate delegation, and growth feedback
  • Own your team’s delivery, breaking down work, coordinating across teams, and shipping against ambitious but achievable timelines
  • Hold the team to a high quality bar of production code, conducting thorough code reviews and making merge and deployment decisions
  • Drive design and architecture for Fundrise services and contribute to a long-term team roadmap
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering stakeholders across the organization to quickly implement complex functionality
  • Champion application security as a critical part of the work in a regulated financial services environment
  • Own production monitoring and triage across our services and third-party integrations

Who You Are

Like our Lead Software Engineers, you spend much of your day writing code, and you measure success by what you can ship as a team rather than by your own output alone. Your technical choices are pragmatic and always in service of building what’s best for users. You hold yourself and your team to a high technical standard, and you think about solutions across multiple problem domains: performance, security, maintainability, architecture, and implementation detail. You can quickly evaluate a new technology, pattern, or language and adopt it when it genuinely serves the problem. You understand how to apply AI effectively to your own daily work and to raising your team’s output without treating it as an autopilot.

You form clear opinions and advocate for them, and once a direction is set you commit to it fully. You find real satisfaction in making an established, high-stakes platform a little better every day. You give direct feedback and expect the same in return, and accept responsibility for all outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep expertise in Java, Spring / Spring Boot, and Hibernate
  • 3+ years leading and managing engineers: running 1:1s, driving team performance through candid feedback, and owning your team’s delivery, quality, and growth
  • 4+ years building and maintaining production applications on AWS, including services like ECS, CDK, S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB and WAF
  • A deep understanding of transactional database design and operations
  • A track record of improving existing systems in operationally complex environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining secure software, including a solid understanding of common threats and principles for writing secure code
  • Comfortable tackling problems without obvious answers, and can rapidly absorb new languages and frameworks in order to implement the best software solutions
  • Experience managing high performing engineering teams in
  • A passion for working backwards from the outcomes the business needs to the engineering decisions that will achieve them

Benefits at Fundrise

  • Remote-first work environment (must live in the United States)
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Fundrise contributing to both employee and dependent premiums
  • Flexible Spending Accounts for medical expenses, dependent care, and parking
  • 401(k) with 3% contributed by Fundrise, regardless of whether you are actively contributing yourself
  • Fully covered life insurance and short-term disability
  • Significant equity via our employee stock grant program
  • Gympass benefit including mental health resources
  • Flexible PTO
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid parental leave

$190,000 - $250,000 a year

Engineer Principal Software Engineer, Frontend - Design Systems at HubSpot

Leads frontend technical direction for a design system, building component libraries and migration tooling while driving UI modernization across a large product platform.

Lead Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

POS-32945

About the Team

Hubspot is in the middle of an ambitious evolution from our current Canvas design system, to our new design system, Trellis. The Trellis design system is a theme change, a modern component library leveraging open source packages (Base UI and StyleX), and defines new UI/UX patterns for use across all of HubSpot’s customer facing applications. The end goal is to provide a foundation to our hundreds of product engineering teams, assisted by coding agents, to build a world class customer experience. This is a rare moment to shape the HubSpot product experience, used by over 250,000 paying customers and millions of users, from the design systems foundation itself.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the frontend technical direction for the Trellis design system and component library. This is a deeply hands-on role for a builder who loves frontend craft, cares about design quality, but understands that the design system has to serve product engineering’s needs. You know that a design system only has value when it is being used by product teams, it accelerates their development, and that the default outcome is a world class customer experience.

Principal Engineers at HubSpot go deep on the organization’s hardest problems and see them through. Once Trellis reaches maturity, you’ll have the opportunity to take that expertise and influence to the next highest-leverage area across Frontend Engineering.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the evolution of the Trellis design system during HubSpot’s 2026 UI modernization, shaping the entire product experience
  • Work closely with Trellis team and Product teams to build and expose a world class component library where the default experience sets a high visual bar, beautiful, fast, consistent, and intentional
  • Define the accessibility capability model for Trellis: the controls, toggles, and patterns that let customers and users meet their needs, rather than designing to the lowest common denominator by default
  • Define and develop internal tooling to support the evolution of Trellis at scale, giving the team the ability to test and iterate on theme and style changes
  • Define and develop the migration tooling that moves HubSpot’s Canvas applications to Trellis at scale, codemods, automated refactoring pipelines, and coding agent workflows that make the right path the easy path for product engineers
  • Make practical decisions about the component library API interface and abstractions exposed to engineers and designers

  • A hands-on builder mindset. You lead by writing, debugging, reviewing, shipping, and thrive on feedback
  • Fluency with AI coding agents, and a perspective on how they change frontend development at scale, and a belief that they will

Engineer Lead Software Engineer at Fundrise

Manages a software engineering team building core APIs for Fundrise's investor platform while contributing to technical architecture and mentoring engineers.

Lead Remote Posted about 3 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product

Leads frontend technical direction for a design system, building component libraries and tooling that enables hundreds of product teams to deliver consistent, accessible customer experiences at scale.

  • Leverage coding agents to ship production code regularly and lead complex initiatives from idea to rollout
  • Mentor Staff and Senior engineers, and drive organizational thought leadership on frontend craft. Setting the bar for how HubSpot builds UI, not just on the Trellis team but across the engineering organization
  • Partner with engineering leads, PMs, and UX to align frontend direction with HubSpot’s product roadmap

What We’re Looking For

  • 14+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of Principal-scope impact on your organization’s most critical business and customer needs
  • Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks, architecture,  and infrastructure. Experience with modern component libraries and tooling, we’re using BaseUI, and StyleX, and our theme deployment infrastructure leverages Cloudflare Workers
  • Experience developing and shipping a production design system that is used at scale
  • A hands-on builder mindset. You lead by writing, debugging, reviewing, shipping, and thrive on feedback
  • Fluency with AI coding agents, and a perspective on how they change frontend development at scale, and a belief that they will

Why This Role Matters

HubSpot is evolving as a product to become the Agentic Customer Platform of choice for growing businesses. We’re also modernizing the product, both style and technology, defining new patterns for how AI-native products best serve the customer. The Principal Software Engineer in Design Systems will determine how the next generation of HubSpot’s UI is built, how teams adopt the Trellis design system, and how frontend architecture scales to support AI-native product development. This is a chance to leave your fingerprints on the platform more than a million people use to grow their businesses every day.

Pay & Benefits

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

This resource will help guide how we recommend thinking about the range you see. Learn more about HubSpot’s compensation philosophy.

Benefits are also an important piece of your total compensation package. Explore the benefits and perks HubSpot offers to help employees grow better.

At HubSpot, fair compensation practices aren’t just about checking off the box for legal compliance. It’s about living out our value of transparency with our employees, candidates, and community.

Annual Cash Compensation Range:

$266,200—$425,900 USD

We know the confidence gap and impostor syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply — we’d love to hear from you.

Engineer Principal Software Engineer, Frontend - Design Systems at HubSpot

Leads frontend technical direction for a design system, building component libraries and tooling to support product teams' development at scale.

Lead Posted about 4 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product

  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong interest in emerging technologies/AI tooling/front-end engineering trends.

  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across product, design, and backend teams.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements.

  • Knowledge of additional frontend frameworks (Vue.js, Angular, etc.).

  • Familiarity with Scrum or other Agile methodologies.

  • Understanding of UI/UX best practices beyond implementation.

  • Exposure to AI‑driven or optimization‑based systems.

We are looking for an experienced Front End Developer to join our team. You will design and build intuitive, high-performance product interfaces and internal tools, working in an AI-native manner across the full front-end development lifecycle, from analysis and planning through implementation, review, and testing.

Our products are used by shipping company engineers and captains to optimise the technical operations and navigation of their vessels based on our in-house developed AI and optimisation algorithms. You will need to gain a good understanding of the domain and our research output to design improvements that make our backend infrastructure scalable and cover our customers’ needs.

Main responsibilities:

  • Deliver intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces that enhance usability and overall user experience.

  • Develop and maintain React-based frontend applications with clean, scalable, and maintainable code.

  • Integrate frontend components with backend services, including in-house AI and optimization algorithms for vessel technical operations and navigation.

  • Optimize application performance to ensure fast load times, responsiveness, and smooth interactions.

  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver end‑to‑end product features.

  • Contribute to frontend standards, code review culture, and the continuous improvement of the team’s engineering practices.

  • Work with modern build tools and development workflows to ensure efficient delivery and high-quality releases.

Requirements

Main requirements:

  • BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Web / Front End Developer, preferably with React as the primary stack.

  • Strong proficiency in React.js and its core principles (component lifecycle, hooks, context, reconciliation).

  • Ability and demonstrated willingness to work in an AI-native manner; leveraging AI coding assistants, agent workflows, and LLM-assisted code review as integral parts of daily engineering practice to improve productivity and quality.

  • Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), including asynchronous patterns, closures, and module systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Redux (React Redux, Redux Toolkit).

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3; proficiency with SASS/SCSS and CSS Modules.

  • Good understanding of CSS Flexbox, Grid, and responsive design principles.

  • Experience with component libraries such as Material UI (MUI) or Bootstrap v4+.

  • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS for utility-first styling workflows.

  • Proficient with Git for version control in collaborative, multi-team environments.

  • Experience with TanStack libraries (Query, Table, or Router) for data fetching, server state management, and table rendering.

  • Experience with build tools such as Webpack or Vite, and Node.js/npm workflows.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong interest in emerging technologies/AI tooling/front-end engineering trends.

  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across product, design, and backend teams.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, user-centred deliverables.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with backend technologies such as Java and/or Python.

  • Experience building or prompting AI-powered UI features (LLM integrations, copilot interfaces, agent-driven tooling).

  • Experience with real-time data interfaces - WebSocket, STOMP, or similar streaming protocols.

  • Familiarity with data visualisation libraries such as Highcharts, Recharts, or D3.

  • Experience with mapping libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox) or grid libraries (AG-Grid).

What we offer

You will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering results and continuous improvement while disrupting the industry, and will also receive:

  • Competitive remuneration package: Skill & experience-based salary and eligibility for additional employee benefits.

  • Health Package: Private health insurance coverage and mental health - therapist benefit
